Desk Habits

Comfortable awareness at your workstation

Explore how your body relates to your desk environment through observation and self-directed awareness — not rigid rules or corrective systems.

Your desk as an awareness space

The workstation is where many of us spend significant portions of our day. Rather than focusing on a single ideal position, we encourage noticing how your body feels in relation to your screen, keyboard, and chair throughout different tasks.

Small shifts in awareness — feeling the contact points between your body and the chair, noticing shoulder elevation during typing, observing neck position while reading — may help you explore what feels comfortable for you.

Micro-Adjustments

Gentle shifts that support ease

Screen Height Awareness

Notice whether your gaze falls naturally toward the upper portion of your screen. You may choose to adjust monitor height if it feels more comfortable during focused work.

Reach Zone Mapping

Identify the items you use most frequently and place them within comfortable reach. This may help limit repetitive reaching and encourage a more relaxed arm position.

Chair Contact Points

Periodically notice how your weight distributes across the seat and backrest. Shifting position every twenty to thirty minutes may help you stay more comfortable during long sitting periods.

Rhythm and Breaks

Natural pauses in your workday

Movement rhythm matters more than holding any single position. We explore how intentional pauses — standing, walking, gentle movement — may fit into your existing schedule without feeling disruptive.

Timed Awareness Moments

Set gentle reminders to pause and scan your body. A brief check-in takes seconds and builds a habit of self-observation over time.

Transition Walks

Walking between tasks — even briefly — offers a natural pause from sustained sitting and a chance to notice how your body feels in motion.
